Partner Charles J. Risch joined Lawrence Kamin in 1986 and has since built an impressive product liability, commercial litigation and financial services practice, representing consumer product manufacturers as well as broker-dealers, investment advisors and Internet companies.
Charlie believes that strong teamwork and preparation provide the surest path to successful outcomes and takes pride in preparing expert witnesses and integrating them into a trial team capable of presenting a compelling defense. As National Coordinating and Trial Counsel for a major manufacturer of juvenile products, Charlie supervises and handles all nationwide product liability claims, winning jury trials throughout the country, including in such difficult defense jurisdictions as southern Alabama and the Rio Grande Valley. At the same time, he works with the client to design and implement quality assurance policies and procedures to minimize exposure to such claims, as well as acting as the client’s representative to the Product Liability Advisory Council.
Charlie also has achieved consistent success defending financial services businesses and professionals in cases involving allegations of fraud and/or violations of the securities or commodities laws, including class actions, arbitrations and administrative proceedings. He also represents these and other business clients in hiring and contract disputes. And as much as he enjoys trying cases, Charlie appreciates that settlements often provide more efficient resolutions of cases and is an avid proponent of mediation as a tool for obtaining favorable outcomes when appropriate.
When not in the office, Charlie enjoys spending time with his wife, Julie, and his sons, Max and J.T., and pursuing a variety of outdoor activities, including golf, fishing, hunting and climbing on his Kubota tractor to clear trails through the fields and woods of his family’s summer retreat in Spring Green, Wisconsin.
