In February 2008, Jennifer M. Tryzna joined Lawrence Kamin, bringing her broad experience representing participants in the financial services industry. Prior to joining the firm, Jennifer acted as in-house counsel to a federally registered investment adviser and broker-dealer company, where she represented and advised its management on diverse matters concerning financial services and corporate law. As in-house counsel for four years, Jennifer developed an aptitude for breaking down complex securities laws and regulations and understanding them from a business perspective. For instance, when FINRA, Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (f/k/a NASD) created and amended the applicable rules regulating a member’s supervisory control procedures, Jennifer analyzed the proposed and amended rules, notice-to-members, and interpretative materials and, working with the firm’s CCO, developed a compliant supervisory and supervisory controls system. As part of her practice, she has also participated in proceedings before FINRA (f/k/a NASD), the SEC, and in state and federal courts.
Jennifer began her legal career as an Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of Chicago’s Law Department, where she prosecuted cases on behalf of various municipal departments and agencies, including the Department of Buildings and the Department of Public Health. She is actively immersed in Chicago’s International Community. Through her association with IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law and the Advocates Society, Jennifer coordinates an annual December holiday party for students at St. Hyacinth’s School on Chicago’s Northwest side. She also regularly hosts international guests through the International Visitors Center of Chicago, where she volunteers on its corporate marketing committee.
Jennifer currently is pursuing an LLM in financial services law at Chicago-Kent. Growing up in a western suburb of Chicago, Jennifer competed in amateur figure skating competitions, and later used those skills to teach and become a head instructor at the University Ice Arena. Jennifer continues her passionate attitude towards sports.
